When you are purchasing a new system the most important step is to talk to as many users as possible. And that means 10 or more if you can. If you just talk to one or two you don't get an understanding of how the program tends to work, you just get an understanding of how the program tends to work for that person and his or her unique personality, capabilities and limitations. Often this limited view is seen through rose coloured or jaded glasses.
But by talking to 10 or more properties, the real personality of the program comes out, and the personality of the person you talk to becomes less dominant. We at Five Star want you to speak to as many properties as you care to about the way Five Star works for them.
Never be satisfied when another vendor gives you 3 or 4 users to talk to. Talk to those users and then ask for more.
Here are some great, and simple questions to ask. Get the user talking:
- Are you satisfied?
- Is the price right or too high for what you get?
- If you could do it again, would you?
- Are you better off now or were you better off manual/or with your previous system?
- What would you improve on?
- How good is support? Can they answer your question immediately or do they have to get back to you? How quickly do they answer you?
